Help
07/30/10 7:14 AM

Hi to all,
I have a 1986 IMP 19BR with a mercruise 5.0L 200hp motor. The out drive (Alpha1) blew and I had some one replace it with a complete upper and lower SEI model SE106 1.47 ratio. with the boat in the water at full throttle the RPM'S will not go above 2,000 and boat will not plain. Take the boat out of the water and put a garbage can filled with water under and over out drive engine rev's in gear up to what ever RPM'S you want. So I changed prop from 15x17 to a 15X15 and took it back on the lake, same problem no RPM'S (2,000) max at full throttle and boat will not plain. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,Gary

Did they install the proper gear ratio drive? You may have to take the top off the drive and count the teeth....

Hi Trent,
I'm in that process now but, the drive that was put on is the one recomended by SEI for the 5.0L 200hp motor. Do you know what the proper prop should be for a 19ft 5.oL 200hp system? I read this morning on another post about the same type of problem but, with a sea-ray which is a 19ft 5.0L and does the same thing (low RPM at full throttle) and it has a 13 3/4x21 prop.
Thanks, Gary
