Gas Tank Float
06/30/10 6:06 PM

Hey Guys!! My gas gauge recently quit working in my boat so I removed the sending unit in the gas tank. I checked the voltage on the wires and everything was good. I even re-assembled it outside the tank and moved the float and it worked perfectly. So I am 100% sure that the float is gas logged and will not float in the fuel. Any ideas on fixing this? Should I let it dry and coat it in epoxy of polyurethane? Attach a bobber somehow? :P Any feedback would be great thanks!

You can buy a new sending unit for $30-$50. Replacement ones are plastic. Yamaha seems to use a lot of cork floats that get saturated for some reason. If you get creative, make sure your new float doesn't melt in gas.
